The Venice Biennale, one of the most prestigious contemporary art events in the world, has opened its latest edition with a curatorial focus on ecological art practices and the climate crisis. The main exhibition features works from more than 60 artists exploring themes of extraction, restoration, and interspecies coexistence. Several national pavilions have commissioned site-specific installations that use reclaimed materials or respond directly to rising sea levels in the Venetian lagoon. Curators said the edition aims to move beyond symbolic gestures and to foreground practices rooted in long-term environmental engagement. The Biennale runs through November.
